CAGNEY ROBERTS is a British-Jamaican filmmaker, producer, writer and archivist working between London and Jamaica. His interdisciplinary practice moves between documentary, long-form journalism and archival research exploring Black memory, the Caribbean body and personal histories guided by an interest in the surreal, the intimate and the unresolved.
His work considers how histories are inherited, fragmented and reimagined, often approaching the archive as a space of possibility rather than certainty. Roberts’ projects have been presented at the BFI Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam and Third Horizon Film Festival.
Beyond his creative pursuits, you can find him exploring the world on his bike, playing records from his vast vinyl collection or reading books in his local green spaces.
